Nicola Simbari

b. 1927, Calabria, Italy
Biography

Born in Calabria, Italy, in 1927, Nicola Simbari was a visionary twentieth-century master universally celebrated for capturing the radiant, sun-drenched essence of Mediterranean life. Raised in Rome—where his father worked as a Vatican architect—Simbari was deeply moved by the city’s classical masterpieces and enrolled at the Accademia delle Belle Arti at just 13 years old.

He burst onto the international stage with his signature semi-abstract style, characterized by bold palette-knife strokes and a brilliant, emotional command of light and colour. His works earned prestigious global recognition, finding permanent homes in major institutions like the Bank of Tokyo and corporate collections such as the Christian Dior Collection in Paris.
