Created in May 2020 during the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic, this mesmerizing piece belongs to Hirst’s acclaimed H7 Rainbow Editions series published by HENI Editions in London. Officially titled "Butterfly Heart (Large)", the artwork was conceived as a powerful symbol of hope, solidarity, and collective strength. It pays homage to frontline healthcare workers, with the rainbow-hued patterns directly echoing the symbols used globally during the pandemic response. The brilliant composition is entirely constructed out of digital collages of intricately arranged butterfly wings—one of Hirst’s ultimate signature motifs used to meditate on the themes of life, beauty, and transience. This charity initiative was a historic success: Hirst donated 100% of the profits from the print sales—totaling over £1.5 million—directly to NHS Charities Together, while also gifting physical editions from the series directly to hospital wards across the UK. Fully authenticated, featuring the artist’s handwritten signature and the distinct edition number on the reverse side (verso) of the panel.
